I have a fifteen year old girl and I have noticed recently that she and lots of her friends are having nail art done. I asked her if nail art was a new trendy thing to have done and she assured me that this was the case. I must admit that it looks really pretty when it is done properly but what concerns me is where such young girls get the money to be able to afford their nail art as it strikes me that such things do not come cheap. My daughter is very sensible and she has got herself both a Saturday job and an evening job two nights a week so that she can earn enough money to pay for things like this as well as any clothes and make up she might need. However, some of her friends seem to have no compunction whatsoever in just asking their parents over and over again for money to buy them everything they need. I find this attitude quite shocking in a young person and believe fervently that it is really important to bring a child up knowing the real value of money. I must say I am very proud that my daughter has taken these lessons on board but am really worried that a lot of her friends will be spoilt beyond redemption.
